I believe that delving into the life of a Paladin is the ideal setting for such a religious portrayal in a fantasy drama. Is being religious, however, really bad? To have characters who genuinely believe in something and act on it for the greater good? Is it really that bad to represent religious beliefs in the media as anything other than a means for a wicked, corrupt ruling elite to control and deceive its followers into handing up their property? It’s a convenient target for haters, simplifying the worldbuilding process. I understand that the Catholic Church has a history of becoming a political superpower with less than benign motivations. Religious figures, I believe, are frequently utilized in the media as a punching bag for cynical atheists in our modern world.
